COP 28

J Y Provocative Question # 13: Do you think COP 28 will result in effective progress towards climate change goals?

The United Nations Framework Convention On Climate Change (UNFCCC) is having its twenty eighth Conference Of Parties (COP), the mission is to curb climate change.

Without going into specifics, True_George’s direct answer to J Y’s provocative question is that the conference will not result in effective progress towards the goals of climate change.

There will not be any progress for the simple fact that the United Nations is a toothless organization.

For example, their peace keeping force is not taken seriously by any nation, and those countries who donate soldiers to the UN force they often donate their worst and undisciplined soldiers.

Another example is enforcement of UN resolutions. All the resolutions that the UN puts out are meaningless if it is not back by the United States, Russia, or the United Kingdom.

The only thing the UN is good for is to serve as the first world countries charity distributing aid and giving out grain to third world countries.

So, how is the UN going to enforce any of the agreements or mandate the recommendations made at the COP 28.

It is the opinion of True_George that the UN does not have the power to enforce any agreements, recommendations, mandates, or treaties.

These types of conventions only allows the delegates to have a good time staying in five star rated hotels, attending cocktail parties, eating rich food at expensive restaurants, attending concerts performed by A listed performers and other perks, at government expense.

Perhaps, creating an opportunity for espionage, with rival countries planting spies to compromise other countries delegates with the goal of eventually infiltrating that country’s government.

Well, it seems I’m getting off topic, but I think that y’all get my drift.

  1. Great post! I think you’re spot on with your observations about the UN – I had to laugh though!

I personally think we’ve missed the boat on climate change prevention as I think we’ve already passed the ‘tipping point’ that the various climate scientists proposed.
