Changing Your Mind

JY Provocation Question #10: Have you ever changed your mind on a position stance or changed an opinion you previously held? What was the impetus for the change? Was it difficult for you to admit that your views had changed?

True_George says that most people have changed their mind one time or another during their life’s journey. At least those who have learned from their mistake, or they acquired new information and realized that their position was not the best perspective.

True_George has found that those who hold onto a position and beliefs no matter what, even in the face of overwhelming evidence tend to be narrow minded.

If you doubt me go to a religious gathering or political rally and talk religion and politics to those people and let me know if anyone you talk with, make any kind of sense. You may find that they’ve developed those stances years ago and they have not changed since.

But don’t despair, narrow minded people could be swayed, but they will put up some type of resistance before that happens.

A couple of years ago I came across a group of people who were on the fourth front of studying the human mind and some of them were giving instruction on it. They were into hypnosis, mind control, salesmen techniques, seduction, Nero Linguistic Programing… well let’s say the type of communication that people respond too.

I learned from these people that it doesn’t really take much to get someone to change their position on anything. In fact, a person will change their position in a heartbeat, if they change the emotion that they attached to that position.

Techniques have been developed to get people into a certain mindset. They are being used every day on unsuspecting people. Just be weary of the information/misinformation that is floating around. It is provided because those that are putting out that information/misinformation may have an agenda.

  1. Pretty thought-provoking! I seldom change my mind – I am possibly narrow-minded but I think it’s more that, when I reach a decision or an opinion, it’s after an awful lot of consideration and inward thought on the issue so I will have lots of reasons behind my decision. If I’ve had to change my mind, I have found it hard to admit very quickly that I have changed to the other person’s point of view.
