Deliberation

The sex trafficking and RICO trial of Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs as now progressed to the part where the Jury starts to deliberate. This is where members of the Jury will decide the fate of Puff Daddy. One would think that the Jury is free and independent; but it’s not the case. The court interprets what the Jury should consider to determine whether a defendant (Puff Daddy) is guilty, or not guilty of the charges brought before the court.

I’m not too sure what guidelines and instructions the court gave the Jury. But there has been claims by various sites on social media that they obtained the actual Jury verdict sheet.

On X formerly Twitter, there are pictures of the Jury sheet, one page for each count. The person that posted it claimed that the presiding Judge (Arun Subramanian) uploaded it on the US Southern District Court website. Also, Court T.V claimed to have gotten hold of the Jury sheet, they displayed it in a video.

Well, True_George is calling bullshit on all social media who claimed that they have obtained the official Jury sheet. First of all, True_George searched the U.S Southern District Court website. True_George found the United States vs Sean Combs rulings on his attempt to get temporary release by posting bail, otherwise there is no record of a verdict sheet with instructions to the Jury been uploaded.

Second, the verdict sheet that Court T.V displayed drastically defer from the one that is posted on X formerly Twitter. Even if you do a google search you will find vastly different forms that claimed to be the official one.

I guess we can sum it up that the public does not know the actual instructions that the court has given to the Jury. We can only speculate what those instructions are based on the instructions given on similar cases.

Anyway, the Jury has been deliberating for 48 hours, well, let’s say during the hours when the court is in session from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. They go home and come back, so you see they can be influenced by the opinions and baseless accusations concerning Puff Daddy that is going around mainstream and social media.

On Monday June 30th the first day; members of the Jury complained to the Judge that one Juror refused to follow the instructions that was given by the court. That Juror, was described to be a middle-aged white male, who is a college professor.

This Juror who obviously is highly educated had a problem with the court instructions. Perhaps he felt that the court instructions are rigid and biased.

Then the Jury were asking for summaries of testimonies of certain individuals. and had certain questions because this is a complex case that doesn’t conform to the RICO and sex trafficking guidelines.

Usually, RICO cases have more then one defendant. Sex trafficking and kidnapping usually involves acts of coercion and the victim forcible directed to do things they don’t want to do. In Combs case, the so-called victims consented and at times even facilitated the activities.

July 1st the second day of deliberations, the Jury was still in disagreement. But, by the end of the day, the Jury reached a unanimous verdict on 4 of the 5 counts.

Those counts are as follows: count #2 Sex trafficking by force or coercion for Victim 1 (Cassie). Count #3 Transportation to engage in prostitution victim1 (Cassie). Count #4 Sex trafficking by force or coercion victim 2 (Jane Doe) and count #5 Transportation to engage in prostitution victim 2 (Jane Doe). The Jury is in disagreement on count 1 which is RICO.

The Jury reported to the Judge that they cannot come to an agreement on the RICO charge. The Judge as urged the Jury to keep deliberating. How long will the Judge allow the deliberation to take place if the Jury is telling him that they cannot agree on a verdict for RICO.

The Court can accept a partial verdict, and call a mistrial on the RICO, or the court can call a mistrial and retrial Combs on the other counts and drop the RICO charge.

In the meantime, court analysis on mainstream, and social media are predicting that the Jury has given Combs a guilty verdict on counts 2 through 4.

I guess we’ll see if the Jury will come to a verdict on count 1 tomorrow, or the Judge will give a deadline for the Jury to come up with a verdict before he decides to call a mis-trial.

Until then, let’s hope for the best that Puff Daddy will be back with his family for the fourth of July weekend.
