Unity

Fandango no longer poses provocative questions, so now I have to turn to a new site that will pose such questions. I came across “Young Jewish Professional.” Well you can click here to know more about it.

 JY Provocative question #6: Unity.

The first thing that came to mind was a joke that the great Bernie Mack did. Well, we all know comedians make us look at reality, of bring to light certain social conditions in the guise of humor, making people laugh at the situation. But these types of jokes have underlying connotations.

This particular joke was that Bernie died and the only way to get into heaven was to ask the Lord a question he cannot answer. Well Bernie quizzed the lord on black unity.

  1. Thank you for sharing this True George.

This was possibly one of Bernie Mac’s jokes that I missed.

My brothers and I used to watch some of The Bernie Mac Show, back when he was still alive.

I like when comedy et cetera has a deeper meaning, and makes you think et cetera.

  2. Thanks for sharing – I wasn’t familiar with this Bernie Mack routine, but I think that’s a good example of a joke with a deeper meaning. I can’t speak to the black community, but I can say that I see a ton of differences and divisions amongst the Jewish community. More often than not, Jews are our own worst enemy.

    • Bernie had a way of saying things. Keep in mind that sometimes one doesn’t need to worry that enemies will destroy you. As Bob Marley said “only your friend knows your secrets, so only he could reveal it…”
