War on Roaches

I was laying in bed when I saw what appeared to be a bug crawling up the bedroom wall. It may be a cockroach, or some other type of brown creepy crawly, I surely hope it isn’t a bed bug. Those critters are harder to get rid off then cockroaches.

I tried to kill it, but it was too fast and got away. I said to myself, dam, I haven’t seen a critter in the apartment since I brought the roach killing gels that was on sale on Amazon, the gels totally eradicated the roaches in the apartment. Now that you see one there may be another hundred hiding out.

First, I need to make sure that the critter that I just saw isn’t a bed bug. I started to peel the sheets off the bed to inspect the mattress. I was looking at the creases in the mattress, everywhere bed bugs could congregate. I didn’t see any, thank heavens.

Then I went to the living room, to see that the old man was coming into the apartment. It looks like he has an oxygen tank. Wow, the old man is deteriorating. But, I don’t want him to see any cock roaches in here.

I was telling my brother about the roach I saw crawling on the wall, he suggested that I look to see if there was a nest under the furniture in the bedroom.

My brother went with me into the bedroom to help turn over the furniture. We started out with the bed, when the bed was turned over, we hit the jackpot. I could see many roaches under the bed’s box spring.

I said dam, I rane to the kitchen to get the roach killing gel. I only had a limited supply. The Bland gel was finished. I neglected to resupply it. I only have the Bane gel, this gel does not kill on contact. It is designed for the roaches to injest, and take it back to the colony where the poison would be spread to the rest of the roaches in the colony killing them off.

Well, don’t ask me how, all I know is that the smaller roaches eat the feces of the larger roaches, that’s one way the poison is spread from roach to roach. The method works, cause I had good results in the past.

The bed’s box spring had a huge colony, and if we move the box spring to hard, I suspect that the whole colony will bolt and invade the apartment in all directions causing a major infestation, which will be hard to put down.

To my anguish some of the roaches ran out on the floor, but lucky for me there were some hungry birds around and they quickly made a meal out of those bugs.

I took the Bane gel, and I squirted it on the colony. I watch them scramble to eat the gel. But like I said, it was not an instant kill. But it did keep most of the roaches together as they were like hungry packs of dogs going after meat thrown on the ground in a feeding frenzy.

Inasmuch as the colony was covered in the roach killing gel, a few of them started to leave the nest, well a few roaches means hundreds. They were running out the room. This is when I called out to those birds to come and help to stop them from going which way they wanted to go.

The sensory changed, now it looked like a road with telephone poles and sitting on the telephone wire were a squadron of vultures. As, I called out to them they swoop down to the ground and as they skimmed across the ground, they devoured the fleeing cockroaches.

It was a funny thing because as the vultures were swooping in to the ground gliding down with their wings spread. I heard the sounds of A10 Warthogs swooping down going for the kill, as I witnessed when I was in Iraq.

The vultures took care of the fleeing cockroaches, as they were doing that, my brother helped me put the box spring in one of those huge furniture plastic coverings and sealing it so that the remaining roaches in the nest could not escape. We expect them to die due to the lack of air in a few hours.

It was around this time that I came out of the sleep cycle and realizing that I was in the midst of a dream. I breathed a sigh of relief that it was a dream, because honestly, I couldn’t deal with all those roaches in reality.

  1. I’m not sure we get cockroaches in Britain – I’ve certainly never heard of any or seen any. We do get bed bugs though. I read on a pest-control website that the best defence against them is to put double-sided sticky tape around the bottom of your bed base as apparently they don’t sleep in the bed but come out of corners at night and invade it. Luckily I’ve only met bed bugs once and that was in a seedy hotel I stayed in in London once.
