Boiling Chicken

This particular day was a regular work day as far as doing government bureaucratic work, However instead of reporting to the government office, True_George got to do his supervising bureaucratic work in the confines of home.

Well, since I’m home for the day I decided to do something that I was meaning to do. That is to make some soup from scratch. I didn’t want to use broth, I wanted to do it old school using just water. Only this time the ingredients will be just chicken. I was curious how long it would take chicken to be done when boiled in water, and to see if that water can be consumed as the soup without adding a thickener.

So, I went through the motions putting the water pot on the stove, adding the seasoning, cleaning the chicken and once the water came to a boil putting the chicken in the pot. Then I went back to the computer to do some government bureaucratic work. But, checking on the pot now and then.

After doing some bureaucratic work, I decided to take a little break. I was going to take a shower, one of the perks of working from home is that you can take a shower anytime you want. But, when I went into the bedroom I decided to lay down first.  But before I laid down I checked on the water in the pot. It was three fourths full so it won’t evaporate no time soon.

When I laid down I started to see images that resembled the government office where I work. There were problems with the public address system. There was a feedback when it was being used. Someone in my area was using it and I was suppose to go over to them and tell them to stop using it or to adjust the volume to stop the feedback.

The problem was, it was my lunch time, and I wanted to prepare my lunch before addressing the situation with the public address system.

I went to the government office kitchen, where I did the same action of putting a boiling pot of water and placing chicken in it to be done. Then I went on to deal with the situation concerning the public address system.

When I got to the main floor the public address system was functioning properly except for someone decided to play music so that it can be heard throughout the whole building. I went to put a stop to it. I have to admit, the music that I heard was something nice, and original, but it was inappropriate to play music on the public address system.

I went to the area where it was purported to be where the source of the music came from. I went in the area and told the subordinate bureaucrats to turn off the music. They complied, but when I left I could still hear the music over the public address system. I must have been in the wrong area.

I went to another area, I heard that the music was louder in that area, so it must be the source of where the music was coming from. But I didn’t see a radio or streaming device.

There was a workman working on the public address system and he told me that there was nothing that can be done to turn off the public address system, so everyone would have to endure the music until the public address system is repaired.

Then I remembered that I still have the chicken boiling in the pot on the stove, I started running back to the government office kitchen and on the way, I lost one of my flip flops.

When I got to the kitchen, I saw a bunch of pots on the floor, among them was the pot that I was using. The lid was off the pot and I could see the steaming water with the chicken in it.

I was upset, and demanded to know who took my pot off the stove.  When I went into the area where the stove is, I saw a workman in the area where the stove was located. He was renovating the kitchen. I saw the stove was not in the location where it was suppose to be. That a new stove was being installed in another part of the kitchen.

But, the workman said that I can put the pot on the new stove to finish boiling the chicken. I asked a co-government bureaucrat to help me with the pot. I took one end, and she took the other end.

But, she could not grasp the pot handle. It kept on slipping out her hand every time she picked up the pot. So I lifted the pot up by myself and was taking the  pot to the stove area.

Just as I got to the stove area, the pot slipped out of my hands and the contents in the pot fell on the floor. I was disappointed that the pieces of chicken were laying on the floor.

My co- government bureaucrat expressed disappointment that the pieces of chicken were wasted.

I was walking out the kitchen area when a security guard stopped me and told me that he saw that I dropped a flip flop and that he brought it to me.

At that point, the dream cycle ended. My thoughts were maybe the subconscious was telling me something about the pot on the stove. When I went to the kitchen, I saw that there was still water in the pot and decided to do a bit more bureaucrat work.

As I was doing this last bureaucrat case I went to check on the pot again, this time I found that I was too late, the last of the water was evaporating and that the chicken on the pot’s bottom was burning, the bottom of the pot was black and was beginning to smoke.

Dam, I caught it just in time before it went up in flames. The chicken was ruined, the pot was black, but I was glad that it wasn’t smoking yet, otherwise the smoke alarm would have went off.

Yeah, True_George should have known better…but can’t help to think that this dream made a prediction.
