Surviving Puff Daddy
There are so many intriguing stories about the alleged behaviors of our entertainment stars. Since the entertainment industry is a lucrative business, there are many groups that seek to control individual stars. A lot of it revolves around sexual misconduct, True_George presented this narrative during the early years of this blog when I spoke about Cathy O’brien’s experience (click here to find about O’brien).
Cathy O’brien was one of the first ones who were on the inside to come forward. This was pre-Jeffery Epstein, and even back then according to Cathy O’brien that rich and powerful individuals, groups (religious and secular) as well as fractions of the U.S Government sanctioned organized debauchery.
Some may say that this is all hear say, who some may think that these things are too far fetched for it to be happening. Well, there are many things happening that we may not know about. But, they’ve been talked about, and over the years the players have changed. Now, the big names that is being thrown around are names such as Jay-Z, R. Kelly, and of course Sean Combs, aka Puff Daddy, P. Diddie, Diddy.
Combs was born in Harlem and after his father died in a drug deal that went wrong his mother moved to Mount Vernon when Combs was in the sixth grade.
While in grade school, he was a good student, and his good grades landed him at Howard University where his entrepreneur skills came to light when he organized a cab service to take drunk students home from a party. By all rights he excelled in everything that he did.
During the 1989 summer break of his freshman year, Combs went back to Mount Vernon and hooked up with a childhood friend, Dwight Myers aka Heavy-D, a somewhat mentor and big brother who was an aspiring rapper that signed a deal with Uptown records. Heavy-D took Combs with him to the Up Town Records owner, Andre Harrell.
Harrell took a liking to Combs and as of that summer Combs was hired as an intern at Up Town records. During the summer, Combs spent hours in the recording room, and he got to meet many well-known artists.
When the summer was over and it was time for Combs to return to Howard, Harrell wanted Combs to stay, but Combs mother was not in agreement, so a compromise was made.
Two days a week, Combs would commute to New York City to intern in the Up Town records office. This continued for a few months until Harrell offered Combs a full-time position on the condition that he drop out of Howard University.
Combs accepted the offer, and it wasn’t long before he was promoted to the Vice- President of the label. So now this is where the speculation comes in.
The fact that Combs was promoted to become the vice president of a record label at the age of 20, when in the industry it normally takes years for someone to reach that position. The question is how Combs attained the position of Vice-President of a label at the tender age of 20.
Now, diverging into Harrell’s experience, we can see that there is a similar pattern. Harrell was a student attending college in the Bronx, when he was discovered by the legendary music mongrel, Clive Davis, the founder of Arista Records and the first music mongrel to come out of the homosexual closet.
Davis took a liking to Harrell and became his mentor; in 1985 Harrell was given the funding to start Up Town Records. Just, like Combs did later, Harrell went around discovering underground artists which included Heavy-D and signing them to his label. Now, the same question comes up. How did Harrell get to be in the position of starting his own record label at a young age.
According to Combs former assistant Jaguar Wright its all a power dynamic with Clive Davis sitting at the top. This insinuates that the boss will take advantage of a young intern, employee, or assistant, with the boss paying them back later on.
I guess most people have heard that this sort of thing happens in the entertainment circle. The couch auditions, people throwing themselves at well-known celebrities in order to catch that break. Then over time, those they were victimized will then become the perpetrators.
Yeah, this type of behavior is pervasive. Victims will become abusers. In the scheme of things, this sort of behavior is not restricted to the entertainment business.
For example, True_George has witnessed these sorts of things playing out in the military, and government bureaucratic agencies, and private industry. Plus, when I counseled individuals many who were victims of heinous acts, turn around and become predators.
Anyway, when Combs was at Up Town Records Harrell’s personal assistant Kim Porter, who incidentally became Comb’s wife, caught Harrell and Combs doing “special favors (giving head),” for Harrell. It is alleged that Portor has video footage of Combs engaged in doing “special favors” for Harrell.
Whatever took place, Combs excelled within the company, and it was when he started to scourer the rap underground scene searching for artists to sign up to his label. This led him to discover Notorious BIG, aka Biggie.
After Biggie signed up with Up Town records, and recorded his first album, Up Town Records parent company MCA refused to release the album because they said it was too explicit. Combs reaction to the decision was not too good, and as a result he was fired.
According to Harrell, he felt that it was not his place to tell another generation how to express themselves. So, he told Combs that he is letting him go so that he can “get rich.”
This is when Combs founded his own label “Bad boy Records.” The funding for the Bad Boy came from Arista Records boss Clive Davis. The speculation comes in that Davis told Harrell to drop Combs so that Combs can start up his own label.
When Combs started up Bad Boy Records, the contracts of the artists that he signed up to Up Town Records were dropped, enabling them to sign up with Bad Boy Records.
In Atlanta, L.A Ried discovered Usher Raymond aka Usher at a talent concert when he was 12, and signed him up to his label, “La Face Records.”
La Face Records was under the umbrella of Arista records, and Clive Davis suggested to have Usher live with Combs so that he could prep Usher for his music career. The idea was that Combs was to be Usher’s mentor guiding him down the right path. Usher was sent to live with Combs in his so called “Puffy’s Favor Camp.” Many people believe and are speculating that Usher was Combs first victim in the power ritual.
The start of Combs era of violence began around 1994 with the altercation with Tupac. Up Town Records wanted Tupac to do a track for a recording which he agreed to do for $7,000.00. After he did the work, Tupac was told to go to the Quad Studios in Manhattan to pick up the money.
When Tupac arrived at the studio before he went into the building, he heard his name being called from the window by Bad Boy associates. After Tupac entered the building and was in the lobby, two unknown guys came in and accosted Tupac going through his pockets. When Tupac started to fight back, he was shot.
Tupac had in his mind that he was set up by Bad Boy, but at the time Tupac could not have addressed the situation because he was embroiled in a criminal case involving a woman which ultimately landed him in Rikers Island for 8 months.
The newspapers ran with the story line that Combs set up Tupac, and when Tupac was interviewed while he was in Rikers Island, Tupac was saying how Combs kept calling to know his whereabouts and to know the exact moment he arrived at the studio. Also, Combs body guard is claiming that Harrell and Combs were at the studio and knew everything what was going on.
There was a series of events that took place between Combs, and Bad Boy associates, and Suge Knight and Death Row Records associates. This includes a fight between Combs and Suge Knight, the murder of Knight’s right hand man Big Jake, who was allegedly killed by Wolf, Combs body guard. Tupac recording dis tracks against Bad Boy.
The next altercation took place at the Soul Train awards after Biggie finished his performance. Tupac and Suge Knight entered the auditorium with a bunch of Crips and Blood gang members. Being outnumbered, Combs had to retreat, but he felt embarrassed and felt something has to be done. The following night, Combs offered Keefe D a high ranking Crip member one million dollars to get rid of Tupac.
In Las Vagas Tupac, Suge and others were due to attend a boxing event where Mike Tyson was defending the heavy weight title against Bruce Seldon. Before the Tyson fight event, Tupac got into a fight with someone named Orlando Sanderson, who happened to be Keefe D’s cousin.
Anderson reported the altercation to the Police and later on he met up with Keefe D and told him what took place.
After the Tyson fight, Suge Knight and Tupac left the arena and they were stopped at a redlight, when the car that Keefe D and Anderson Orlando was riding in happened to pull up next to the car that Suge Knight and Tupac was in.
Upon sighting Tupac, Anderson rolled down his window and fired shots at Suge Knight and Tupac’s car. When the dust cleared Tupac was mortally wounded. Five days Later, Tupac passed away at a hospital.
After Tupac died, Combs called Keefe D and asked, “was that us,” whatever was said, it was alleged that Combs wrote out a check for one million dollars and passed it to Eric “Von Zip” Martin, who was supposed to give it to Keefe D. Instead, it was alleged that Von Zip decided to keep the money instead.
Well, since Von Zip kept the money it shielded Combs from being arrested according to an FBI source. True_George says whether this is speculation or not, if a check was written, then the bank will have a record. Until this day, evidence of a million-dollar check that combs wrote has not shown up. Yet, still many believe Combs has a hand in the death of Tupac.
Many of the Bad Boy artists were avoiding going to California, but in 1997 the Soul Train awards were being held in Los Angeles. Combs wanted to attend the awards, the Notorious BIG was not keen in going to the awards. He told Combs that he was in too much pain as a result of a car accident.
Combs was relentless in convincing the Notorious BIG to go to California with him. In the scheme of things, Combs really wanted Notorious BIG to attend the after party, rather then the award show itself. The Notorious BIG caves in and decided to go to California.
They attended the award show without incident, and after the show Notorious BIG tells Combs that he is leaving for the airport to fly out to London.
Combs did not know that Clive Davis had set up an event for Notorious BIG to get worldwide exposure. So, when Notorious BIG told Combs he was flying out, naturally Combs was upset. He called Davis and told him to cancel the London event.
That same night Mase told Combs that he has intel that members of the bloods are coming to get them (Combs and Notorious BIG).But Combs insisted that he would be alright. Gene Deal, also told Combs the same thing. But, Combs brushed it off even though he knew the threat is out there.
Now Combs and most of his Bad Boy artists are attending the after party in the Hollywood hills, the party was shut down by the LAPD due to a noise complaint. This left the artists to go on their separate ways.
Notorious BIG left and was traveling in a car with three other artists, when they stopped at a red light, a Chevy Impala pulled up next to them and fired shots into the car killing Notorious BIG.
Some may say that the killing of Notorious BIG was out of revenge for the murder of Tupac. Comb’s former bodyguard Gene Deal has speculated that Combs put Notorious BIG out in the pasture for those who wanted to get him, could get him.
So now the speculation is did Combs sacrifice Notorious BIG to stop the East Coast-West Coast beef? After all, Notorious BIG was Comb’s biggest star and a close friend.
Later on Combs discovered Moses Barrow, a new artist calling himself Shyne. He was so impressed with Shyne that he gave him three cars and two homes when he signed him to Bad Boy.
To celebrate Shyne’s first album, Combs, his bodyguard Wolf, and Jennifer Lopez Comb’s girlfriend at the time, took Shyne out to a club in Time Square.
In the club Combs bumped into an infamous street dude called Scar, they had an argument that escalated, Scar threw some money in Comb’s face, and Shyne pulled out a gun and fired shots. Everyone scattered out of the club, and three people got injured.
Combs Shyne and Jennifer Lopez attempted to get away, but due to the heavy traffic in New York City, the Police caught up with them quickly and arrested them.
When the dust was settled both Combs and Shyne were in court fighting weapons and attempted murder charges. Combs was ultimately acquitted of all charges, while Shyne was convicted and sentenced to ten years in prison.
There were many questionable stuff going on when it came to Shyne’s legal defense who Combs was responsible to provide. So now the speculation is was Shyne sacrificed at the expense of Combs.
Combs kept on fishing to sign up the next star, but some may say that his recruiting tactics were strange.
The next star that Combs signed up was New Jack City actor and R&B singer Christopher Williams. Who came to Combs and he was given the Clive Davis, Andre Harrell treatment. According to Jaguar Wright, Combs Lawyer walked into Combs office and witnessed Williams doing “favors” for Combs.
Then there is the controversies surrounding his ex-wife Kim Porter. After they broke up, it was purported that Combs started to tap Kim’s phone, and bug her home. I guess Combs was listening to her conversations until he reacted to something that was said that he didn’t like.
It came in the form of hearing Kim’s relations with Shakier Stewart a respected Lawyer, turned record label executive. Combs was so enraged about their relationship, that he allegedly tracked them down and assaulted them.
In 2008 Shakier Stewart was found dead in his home in Georgia. There were mysterious circumstances surrounding his death. Such as being paranoid that he is being pursued and looking out his windows as if he is being watched.
So now Combs moved onto R&B artist Cassie Ventura. You can get an insight by clicking here..
Then in 2018 Kim Porter dies it has been alleged under mysterious circumstances. With speculation that she met her demise because she was getting ready to release a tell all book. Something that Combs doesn’t approve of.

I’m really glad nothing like that goes on around here! What a way to live!

Just the levels of needless violence – I live in the ‘back of beyond’ as we’d say (ultra-rural) and, fortunately, we don’t have that kind of thing (yet I suppose)

Yes, in most big money industries there is a level of violence. You have violence due to power domination, shake downs, extortion, even the mafia is involved…if its not physical violence its mental or sexual..
