Myth of The Booty Warrior
The old saying goes “don’t believe the hype,” the saying has many connotations, but, to me it basically says that the word that is put out is not necessarily the truth.
It’s similar to propaganda, it contains some sort of element of truth, but not really the truth, or a distortion of the truth, perhaps based on a perceived perception due to a lack of information. Could it be outright lies? Yes, and no, depending on the point of view of those putting out the information and those who were the target of that information. Keep in mind that there are perpetrators and victims of an organized propaganda campaign.
Well, I guess you’ve heard about Fleece Johnson the Booty Warrior (click here if you didn’t), well what if I told you that Fleece Johnson was a victim of an organized campaign to paint him as a serial prison rapist.
The title of the “Booty Warrior,” was bestowed upon Fleece after his infamous interview with the MSNBC program called “Lockup.”
According to Fleece at the insistence of prison staff, he was involved in the Scared Straight program to deter kids from participating in a life of crime where they may end up being locked up in the penitentiary.
When MSNBC show “Lock Up” came to interview Fleece to say something that will influence juveniles from living the life that would lead to being incarcerated in the penitentiary. Fleece had been in the penitentiary close to forty years and believed that he would never get out. Fleece, agreed to do the interview on the condition that he say what he wanted to say.
In fleece’s mind, he wanted to shock the juvenile’s consciousness, not by telling the juveniles how prison is in the present; but how prison was in the past. Based on how prison was in the past when it was considered that getting booty was more important than drinking water among the inmates. Fleece concocted the story of taking man’s butt as a way of putting fear of being locked up in the penitentiary. Thus, the persona of “The Booty Warrior” was born.
Now, executives at MSNBC took the narrative and ran with it. Portraying Fleece as a serial rapist and went as far as taking Fleece’s likeness and putting it in the cartoon “Boondocks.” Fleece states that MSNBC did it without his consent.
Fleece also stated that the records will show that he was not convicted of any type of sex crimes, he was not written up for raping anyone. Nor, did any inmate reported that Fleece was coming after them for sex. Fleece pointed out that if he committed all those sex crimes, why isn’t he on the state’s sex offender registration. In the state of Kentucky, it is mandatory that those convicted of a sex crime be on the state’s sex offender registration.
The media has a way of propagating information and truths to justify their end results. Now it is etched in the minds of many people that Fleece Johnson is a booty warrior. Let’s hope that Fleece is in good standing to sue “Boondocks” for using his likeness and get restitution.

Well it would certainly scare most folks off going inside!
